The Engineering team at SmithRx is developing the next-generation modern pharmacy benefits management (PBM) platform to change how companies administer and manage pharmacy benefits. We are looking for a Principal Data Architect to be part of our Data Engineering team to drive and enable our data capabilities in transforming our company into a data-driven organization and help lay the foundations of a robust data ecosystem. This role will own the technical leadership and bridge between engineering, platform, and data engineering with responsibilities in defining, planning, delivering, and supporting the implementation of our production data architecture to drive business value and growth. He/She will advocate and bring best practices/methodologies, and documentation with a heavy emphasis on design and architectural decisions.
What You’ll Do
Lead a data architecture board (engineering, platform, and data engineering) with responsibility for data architectural design, performance tuning, administration, data security, and protection.
Monitor and optimize the performance of database systems. Develops flexible, maintainable, and reusable data engineering solutions using standards, best practices, and frameworks with a focus on efficiency and innovation
Provide technical guidance, solid design principles, and support to developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders.
Ensure that data is secure and protected from unauthorized access or modification. Implement security protocols such as encryption, access controls, and data backup and recovery procedures.
Identify and contributes to opportunities for technology improvements, tooling innovations, best practices, and vendor evaluations
Drive engineering excellence and lead craftsmanship in building, testing, and optimizing ETL/feature/metric pipelines
What will you bring
BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant experience.
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related field.
Strong database architecture, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, along with an ability to handle ambiguous, and evolving requirements
Good understanding of the latest database structure and types. Ability to architect and implement the database design based on the use cases. (OLTP, No SQL, document store, OLAP, graph, and time series databases).
Prior experience in production database/data warehouse admin and performance optimization, security best practices to ensure operational excellence
Export in SQL, Python, Shell programming, Spark (Batch/Streaming), SparkSQL, PySpark, CI/CD, and automated testing capabilities
Experience in data technologies (AWS Redshift, Postgres DB, Snowflake, BigQuery, Airflow, Terraform, Kubernetes, Spark, pySpark, etc.)
Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and influence stakeholders to consider alternate viewpoints.
