How to Apply
Scenery is redefining how video is created in today's distributed, connected world. We are building a professional collaborative video editing tool that is as powerful as native applications with the inherent advantages of the web.
We are looking for a data scientist to join our growing team and be responsible for the strategy and execution of our team’s data-focused work. You will shape the evolution and culture of our data team as we scale while directly impacting the product growth and company trajectory. We aim to have a meeting light culture focused on accountability, fast iteration, solving customers problems, while experiencing personal and professional growth.
We strive to create a working environment where we:
Ship products so we can learn from our customers quickly and iterate to better serve them.
Work as a team to help each other exceed our individual expectations.
Value product and code quality so that our customers can depend on us.
Constantly learn and grow collectively and individually inside and outside of work.
This role is for Data Scientist (Contractor), reporting to the Lead Product Manager. This role can be joined from anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities

Conducting statistical analyses to inform product development and marketing strategies
Ranges from cohort and retention analyses to analyzing effectiveness of specific product features and funnel drop offs
Developing, maintaining, and routinely looking at data dashboards and visualizations to track key metrics and performance indicators
Collaborating with product management, marketing, and cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for data-driven improvements
Concisely communicating findings and insights to stakeholders, usually through a mix of dashboards, written documentation, and live presentation
Participating in twice weekly data meetings

We are looking for people to demonstrate the following experience and skills:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field
2+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or a related field
Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other relevant data analysis tools and programming language
An attitude to move quickly; we are startup and sometimes have the need to run data analyses on short order / no advanced notice in order to help stakeholders make key, time-sensitive product and marketing decisions
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to drive results
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
A commitment to data hygiene and data best practices that scale (ie: creating dashboards that update themselves as opposed to showing screenshots of 1-time analyses)
Bonus, but not essential: experience with product analytics tools (e.g. Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.)
Bonus: prior experience at a startup; we often are in a position where we need to run analyses and make inferences with datasets that are not as large as we might like. We are looking for people who want to work in this type of environment
The Company
Scenery is Series A-backed by Greylock, Craft Ventures, and Figma. The founding team has started 2 previous companies that created cloud based video editors together: SnappyTV which sold to Twitter in 2014 and Jumpcut, which Yahoo! acquired in 2006. We have experience leading large product and engineering teams as well as startup and growth stage ventures. Scenery previously raised a series seed round led by Freestyle.vc with Precursor Ventures, Wireframe Ventures, Transmedia Capital, Rembrandt VC and UpHonest capital participating along with amazing individual investors. We are ~20 employees but growing, focused on building and iterating our product to meet customer needs
