Launch PM Program

When the Marriage Pact sweeps through campus, it creates buzz, hype, and excitement unlike any other campus tradition, reflected by the thousands of students who participate each time it rolls around.
This doesn’t happen by accident.
Our Launch PMs incite this magic, by being creative and strategic thinkers about the product rollout for every new campus community.
The Marriage Pact Launch PM Program is a select program for 12-16 college juniors and seniors. They will be responsible for launching 16-20 iterations of the Marriage Pact, each, at colleges across the country. They must be perceptive, thoughtful, and ultimately, responsible stewards of a rich cultural tradition for each of the communities they help.
The program runs from early August 2023 to May 17th, 2024, largely following the semester school year. It involves two weeks of training, then consistent launches over the course of the year. Within any given week, you’ll enjoy relative flexibility to set your own meeting times and strong camaraderie with the brilliant & driven people in the cohort. There are two standing commitments: 1) Once a week, the PM cohort comes together to learn and share findings. 2) Once a week, everyone at Marriage Pact comes together for our weekly all-hands.

Objectives

The program has four objectives:
Learning: The Marriage Pact is founded on a deep understanding of topics ranging from Network Theory to Behavioral Economics and from Social Skills (not joking) to Sociology. We’ll take time each week to dive into these topics: You should come away from this program with an understanding of and appreciation for the human psychology and behaviors that underpin interpersonal & community-level interaction (ie. smaller than society-level). You should be able to comfortably apply them in service of launching a viral consumer product, an effective grassroots campaign, or a social movement of any size.
Leadership: It’s rare that you get to practice what it’s like to be a leader. With the Launch PM program, you’ll lead teams across 16-20 schools, earning trust and galvanizing your team to deliver results. This is a chance to hone your leadership and perfect your style.
Community: You make your best friends when you’re building something together. We expect the endeavor of launching a new cultural institution will forge strong bonds, but we’ll also devote serious/dedicated thought to forging friendships among the cohort.
Impact: Averaging 2,500-4,000 participants per school, launching at 16-20 schools, you’ll be responsible for matching 35-70,000 people. Further, we’ve seen historically that 3-4% of matches date for a year or longer, which means each PM generally alters the course of 1,000-2,500 lives during their time at Marriage Pact.

What’s the cheesiest pickup line you’ve ever heard? It's not cheesy, but it's dumb. My friend said it last night. His go-to line is like, “How much does a polar bear weigh?” And then they're like—”What?” And he's like, “Enough to break the ice.”

If you were a Marriage Pact question, what question would you be? I would go on a spontaneous trip, even if that meant putting off my responsibilities. I think I literally answered like, seven for that. And I marked that as the most important.

Best piece of college dating advice you’ve heard? Or worst? A good piece of advice that I've heard is that it's easy to love someone else well if you love yourself well, so I think making sure, going into a relationship, that you really feel like you know yourself and what you would need.
