About Juniper Square

Our mission is to unlock the full potential of private markets. Privately owned assets like commercial real estate, private equity, and venture capital make up half of our financial ecosystem yet remain inaccessible to most people. We are digitizing these markets, and as a result, bringing efficiency, transparency, and access to one of the most productive corners of our financial ecosystem. If you care about making the world a better place by making markets work better through technology – all while contributing as a member of a values-driven organization – we want to hear from you.

Juniper Square offers employees a variety of ways to work, ranging from a fully remote experience to working full-time in one of our physical offices. We invest heavily in digital-first operations, allowing our teams to collaborate effectively across most US states and 2 Canadian Provinces. We have a physical office in San Francisco, CA for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.

About your role

Juniper Square is looking for a People Business Partner (PBP) Director to help support our organization through our next phase of growth. Reporting to the VP of People, this is an individual contributor role that will have substantial influence on our people strategy and will work both as a coach, working with department leadership to achieve company goals, and as an operator, evolving our approach to talent development and performance management. At Juniper Square, we approach People problems with the same tireless curiosity and first-principles thinking as any other part of our business and are seeking an innovative PBP to deliver substantial transformation in this critical function.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as a coach, advisor and thought partner to leaders in achieving our company goals and developing a people strategy that supports those goals

  • Set and maintain a high bar for talent by designing performance management systems that allow us to identify and develop top talent, effectively incentivize outperformance, and foster a culture of continuous feedback

  • Implement scalable mechanisms for handling performance issues and support and coach managers through those issues

  • Ensure all departments you support have effective role competencies and career paths with meaningful growth opportunities

  • Identify and remedy management training gaps, helping our managers become world-class people leaders

  • Support team members through employee relations issues

  • Study insights and develop action plans based on data from employee engagement surveys, exit interviews, and leadership feedback

  • Create company communications and training materials on new and existing HR programs

  • Support organizational change by helping leaders identify the people implications of any change and by collaborating with leaders to develop communication plans for those changes

  • Deeply understand our business, the departments you support and the talent strategies of those departments

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience delivering PBP support, ideally at a fast-growing technology company

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence senior leaders

  • Knowledge of PBP best practices coupled with creativity and a desire to build custom talent development solutions, based on a deep understanding of our business

  • Strong understanding of people and team dynamics, with an ability to quickly glean insights and develop actionable recommendations to stakeholders

  • Ability to efficiently execute complex projects with a high degree of detail orientation

  • Experience with multiple different HRISs a strong plus

  • Best-in-class verbal and written communication skills; ability to succinctly explain complex topics with an employee-friendly tone

  • Resilient, forward-looking and adapts quickly to change; maintains a growth mindset

At Juniper Square, we believe building a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture makes us a better company. If you think this job sounds like a fit, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the qualifications.
