Guava is a digital banking and community platform designed for and by Black small business owners. Guava is on a mission to close the racial wealth gap by facilitating the growth and resilience of Black small businesses with financial products designed to meet their needs.

About this role
In this position, you will serve as a critical team member focused on back end development and operations. We are looking for someone who has proven their ability to build and operate backend technology systems and is excited to be a technical leader. The role will start out as a full time hands on engineering role with opportunities to take on broader management responsibilities as the team grows.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of large features and new capabilities for the Guava platform
Help to manage the Ruby on Rails codebase and the AWS / Kubernetes infrastructure
Support the ongoing operations of the live system
Serve as a mentor and technical lead for other backend engineers
Qualifications
5+ years of software engineering experience
Experience developing RESTful APIs, preferably with Ruby on Rails
Experience working with AWS infrastructure
Proficient with relational databases

Interest and willingness to dive in and help out in areas that are outside of your core responsibilities
Someone who will step up to put out a fire but more importantly understands how to minimize the chances of a fire ever starting
